The South Gate
This city gate is located at the very southern end of the former main town street, which starts at the North Gate, and passes at the foot of the hill San Giovanni. This entrance even has a system of three gates, due to its strategic importance for the defense of the town.
The Arms Square
The Arms square was formed in the Middle Ages as a business and administrative center. Initially, the name was Platea marinae - later Piazza Marina, or Platea communis, given that the functions were determinedby the proximity of the port and business traffic.
